The Day Master refers to the first stage of the Bazi chart reading. This is the starting point of personality analysis – zero coordinates relative to which we determine the Bazi Gods. The Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of the person’s birthday.

The next thing we analyze is the season,
since it plays a crucial role in determining the chart’s strength
(whether it is weak or strong).
Further, we consider 5 Deities:
Friends, Resources, Power, Wealth, and Self-Expression.

everything mentioned above is the basic technical aspects
that help us to determine a person’s luck.
The Day Master’s Strength
The Day Master can be weak or strong.
The same characteristics are used to describe the Bazi chart’s strength.
Even though the descriptions sound alike,
the strength of the Day Master and the strength of the Bazi chart are not the same terms.
It may come as a surprise to many that these two are different things.
One should possess basic knowledge of the topic to understand such subtle nuances.
Therefore, at the initial stage of training,
we do not emphasize the difference between
the chart’s strength and the Day Master’s strength,
so as not to confuse the students.
Nonetheless, today’s article is devoted to the very same topic.
If you want to determine the chart’s strength, first you have to determine whether:
- The Day Master supports the season of a person’s birth (Earthly Branch of the month).
- (The Day Master) is supported by Heaven Pillars.
- (The Day Master) is supported by Earthly Branches.
Further, we have to refer to the Wuxing system, a theory of 5 elements:
The theory itself represents the interactions between the elements of the generative cycle.
In other words, one element produces the subsequent element of the circle:
- water reproduces wood;
- wood reproduces fire;
- fire reproduces earth;
- earth reproduces metal;
- metal reproduces water.
So, how do we determine whether the Day Master is supported by the season?
- If the Day Master is Yang Wood (Jia), the person is born in autumn
(month of the Rooster, Metal element),
the Day Master is not supported by the season. - If the Day Master is Yang Wood (Jia), the person is born in the spring
(month of the Rabbit, Wood element),
the Day Master is supported by the season.
If you learn the interconnections between these 5 elements,
it will be easy for you to form similar conclusions.
The basic rule: if the element of the Day Master is “born” in the prosperity season or in the season that supports the Day Master’s element, the element is strong.
In other words,
if you were born during your season (during the season that “reproduces” you),
then the Day Master is considered strong by the season.
This is a sort of introduction to the subject of how to determine strength.

Why would we need to know whether the chart is weak or strong?
Before I start, I want you to understand that
the strength of the chart does not determine a person’s character.
Both characteristics are purely technical terms and are not used to describe personality.
After identifying the chart’s strength,
we will know what elements of the chart are valuable,
and which are not.
Let me illustrate this with an example:
We find elements of a particular value in the chart.
Now we want to know to which Gods they belong,
and how they manifest themselves in real life.
Now, since we know these elements and their characteristics,
we can strengthen them to achieve greater success in life.
According to Wuxing theory,
the weak chart of the Yang Wood Day Master (Jia) requires Wood and Water.

Lastly, I want to share a piece of practical advice on how to strengthen the chart,
which may be useful for those who do not know much about Bazi art:
- Devote time to education; research; reading; communication with friends and family; drawing logical conclusions; and building social connections.
- Consider living in a place, where the back side of the house (rear) faces the high building or mountain.
- Follow the rule “measure twice, cut once.”
- Refrain from making spontaneous decisions.
- Know the facts first.
- You should better have people to ask for advice or, a consultation.
- Strengthen your spirituality.
