How would you define luck? Many people out there have been pondering this question at least once in a lifetime. If not, I suggest you read this article and answer this question or look differently at what luck might be if you have already defined the nature of luck.

Certainly, luck has many faces. Some define luck as a happy coincidence, freebie, surprise, or something that seems to have fallen from the sky. 😇 As long as you believe one of these definitions, it will be true.

I think that most people start thinking about the nature of luck when they experience an acute sense of injustice for the first time. Especially if it arises from comparing one person to another, a more successful one. For instance, when two people set relatively the same goals but get completely different results.

Naturally, people are born with different opportunities in life. While one person has an abundance of them, another has a drastically smaller number. This does not mean that the second person has a lower chance of success; both can become successful, fully realizing their potential in particular fields of life, depending on the path they choose to take.

It means that we should act out of the capabilities that were given to us by birth. Imagine that one person’s luck is a luxury car, while another person’s luck is a bicycle. If the lucky owner of a luxury car decides to ride along a mountain trail, he or she most likely will not reach the final point. Surprisingly enough, an owner of a bicycle can make a similar mistake – mistakenly believing that the bicycle is a perfect vehicle to drive on the highway. Every time this person enters the highway, he or she is blown away by the airflow from the passing cars, which move at speeds of up to 150 km/h.

Hence, it is essential to choose roads that we can comfortably drive along. Of course, you may choose to follow any road you want. However, keep in mind that you may not enjoy it as much. In other words, you may chase any goal you like; however, prepare yourself for the challenges that might follow.

If you fail to reach a goal no matter how many times you try – consider what motivates you to chase this exact goal. What stands behind your decisions? What is your driving force? Perhaps you are guided by a conscious choice, public opinion, or societal values.

Luck is not given by chance. At least, metaphysicians share this thought. According to their viewpoint, luck results from the right efforts made in the right direction and at the right time.

Lastly, the key to your success is your confidence in your luck. A simple question, “How are you?” usually determines this. If the answer is not “Great,” it is time to work on your luck, since luck also results from a person’s thinking and inner state.

Best of luck! 🍀
