Meaning Behind the Strength

One of the most intriguing yet complex parts of Bazi chart reading is the Day Master. In the Bazi chart, the Day Master is represented by the Heavenly Stem of the Day Pillar and represents you. This means you most likely have some traits specific to your type of Day Master. In total, there are 10 Heavenly stems, and one is yours:甲 (Jia, Yang Wood), 乙 (Yi, Yin Wood), 丙 (Bing, Yang Fire), 丁 (Ding, Yin Fire), 戊 (Wu, Yang Earth), 己 (Ji, Yin Earth), 庚 (Geng, Yang Metal), 辛 (Xin, Yin Metal), 壬 (Ren, Yang Water), and 癸 (Gui, Yin Water). If you have not yet determined your Day Master, refer to the following material (free of charge).

The next step is to determine the strength of the Day Master. An advanced practitioner would solve this riddle in a matter of time, while a beginner may spend a few hours figuring out the strength of the Day Master, as you have to consider several factors at a time, such as seasons, supporting elements, interactions of the elements, and so on.

Let’s say you already know the strength of your Day Master. For instance, you know that it is strong. What does it mean anyway? What can you do with this information? How can you apply it to real-life settings? What if your Day Master is not strong, but weak? Would that affect your life, and to what extent? First and foremost, we have to understand the meaning behind the strength to answer these questions.

Strong Day Master

Strong Day Master acts (or should act) spontaneously. He or she is the one who creates new ideas and gives clear, direct instructions or orders to subordinates and clients, without delving into philosophical matters. He or she does not waste time on market research or analyzing potential risks. Strong Day Master does not calculate the odds of winning or losing. Such a person most likely says,

“Let’s play this game regardless of whether we lose or win. Let’s play it now, and deal with the consequences later.”

That is how a strong Day Master would or should approach a situation.

Weak Day Master

Weak Day Master may need to consult with someone before making a decision. He or she is the type of person who must measure twice and cut once. Such a person does market research before making a decision, or analyzes their chart for several hours before applying for a Bazi consultation.

Keep in mind that the strength of the Day Master has nothing to do with physical or mental strength. Weak Day Master most likely means that a person is a thorough professional. He or she realizes that resources are needed to implement certain plans, so this person wants to ensure they have these resources.

These two qualities of the Day Master are the key ones, and their interconnection can be illustrated through the example of a couple. So, here is a story about how the knowledge of Bazi may save nerves and time, not to mention a tremendous amount of money.

The unity and struggle of opposites

Imagine a married couple in which the wife takes on the role of a person who generates the ideas, and the husband assumes the role of a manager (perhaps, a risk manager). When the wife says that she wants to open a beauty salon, the husband may contradict her by saying that the competition is very high, and many companies go bankrupt, “Let’s not do anything without thinking things through!”

So, on one hand, we have an extremely creative person who is ready to fight; on the other hand, we have a person who wants to consider a backup plan first. This person wants to know whether the game is worth the candle. So, he must know they have enough resources at hand to implement what is planned and have enough chances to succeed. Consequently, one person represents Resources, and another – Self-Expression.

If we draw an analogy with the car (I do not imply that marriage is a car; it is just an example to illustrate the idea). Resources and Self-Expression are two pedals of a car – gas and brake. Self-Expression is a gas, and Resources are the brake. The car will not work properly if one of these two is missing.

Hence, you have to check whether both pedals are in place and work well to ensure the car works. The same relates to relationships – you need two to make it work, even though one may play the role of a “gas,” and another one of a “brake” to keep the car moving along the “life” road.

Lastly, there are no weak or strong personalities, there are preferred manners of reaching success in life.
