How to Analyze the Bazi Chart

In this article, you will learn more about how to analyze the Bazi chart, what elements one should consider first, and why. We will mainly focus on Destiny Pillars and Symbolic Stars.

Destiny Pillars

Do you know that different pillars of your Bazi chart represent different areas as well as periods of a person’s life? In total, there are four of them – hour, day, month, and year pillars:

So, what are they responsible for what?

Year Pillar refers to the grandparents, social background, and first 20 years of life.

Month Pillar stands for parents, siblings, and the period of life until 35-38 years old.

Day Pillar represents the Day Master, that is to say, a person itself – an element of personality (the Day Master is highlighted by a slightly different color in the chart, see the example above). Beneath the Day Master, there is an animal sign, which is the foundation or basis of a person. That is hearth, home, and a spouse – something or someone you can lean on. It covers the period up to 60 years old.

Hour Pillar signifies children, subordinates, and a period of life over 60 years – when a person has already earned their reputation.

In the horizontal rows of Earthly Branches, you can find four out of 12 animal signs: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, or Pig, as shown in the example below:

Why would you need to know your Destiny Pillars?

For instance, by analyzing interactions between Month and Day Pillars of the Earthly Branches (let us consider them as an example), we can identify whether a person will experience relationship problems.

In other words, when Pillars’s animal signs clash – a person may encounter problems. If they support each other – there are fewer chances that something goes wrong in specific areas of life.

If we analyze man’s chart, the interactions between the Horse animal sign in the Day Pillar and the Rat in the Month Pillar mean a clash or a conflict between these two animals. As for men, such a structure means marriage-related problems if a person decides to get married before the age of 35-38 (during Month Pillar’s period). However, if a person passes this period, the chance of divorce or unhappy marriage significantly decreases at the age of 40 or above.

Symbolic Stars

In the Bazi chart, apart from eight Pillars (there are eight of them by the way), you can find the Symbolic Stars table:

Each Star represents a different set of qualities. For instance, the so-called Nobleman Star is responsible for help and certainly is a good one to have. In turn, if your Nobleman (as a person, not a star)) is Ox or Goat – what should you do to benefit from this Star?

Applying knowledge in real-life settings

Imagine you want to hire a new member for your team. You have two candidates for the position. The one who has a Nobleman Star may be a better fit for your team. Look at the year of a person’s birth to determine whether a person is born in the year of Ox or Goat. If one of them is born in the year of an Ox or a Goat – this person is your Nobleman and would be a better fit for you or your team. The same method can be used when choosing a doctor, a teacher, or a business partner.

However, you should not solely rely on this information when making an important decision – consider all the relevant information, such as experience and personality traits.
